Choose from six levels of pet insurance
The AA’s pet insurance options range from Accident Only to Gold Plus, which includes generous cover, renewable benefits and up to 30 days overseas travel for your pet. There is a useful guide to the types of benefits available below The claim limit for each insurance option is subject to excesses, which are the amounts you have to pay for each claim.
- If your pet is under 6 years of age the excess is £100
- If your pet is 6 years of age or older, the excess is £100 for each illness or injury plus 20% of the remaining cost of the treatment.
- Third party legal liability is £250
- There is no excess for accidental damage

Your benefits for pet insurance cover levels
If your pet causes damage to a third party, for which you’re not legally liable but which you feel a moral obligation to pay for, The AA will pay up to £500.
Advertising or Reward
If your pet is lost or stolen, The AA will pay for local advertising and offer a reward. Cover is up to £100 on Silver or Silver Plus and £250 on Gold or Gold Plus.
Boarding Kennel Fees
If you have to go into hospital for more than 4 consecutive days and are obliged to put your pet into a boarding kennel or cattery, we’ll pay up to £250 on Silver and £1,000 on Gold policies
If your pet dies as a result of an accident or from injury or illness, we cover up to £250 on Silver or Silver Plus and £1,000 on Gold or Gold Plus policies.

If you and your pet are away from home and your pet needs urgent veterinary care, you may not know who to turn to. The AA offer access to a helpline that will identify the nearest vet for you.

About AA Pet Insurance
With AA Pet Insurance, you can choose from six levels of cover, ranging from Accident Only to Gold Plus. Accident Only will only insure circumstances such as veterinary fees and dentistry, whereas the higher level packages include cover against cancellation, special diet or loss by theft or straying. Please note that the claim limit for each insurance option is subject to excesses:

How To Cancel Your AA Pet Insurance Policy
There are three ways in which you can cancel your pet insurance policy – simply get in touch using one of the following methods:

Please be aware that cancellation charges will apply. You can find out more in your policy Terms & Conditions. When you purchase your pet insurance, you will have a cooling off period of 14 days where you can cancel your policy if you change your mind. If you choose to cancel the policy within these 14 days, The AA will refund your premium after deducting the admin fee. If you choose to cancel your policy after the 14 day period and no claims have been made, The AA will include a pro-rata charge in addition to the cancellation admin fee. If you choose to cancel your pet insurance policy, but have made a claim, you will be charged the remaining premium for the policy year.

If you need to make a claim, The AA has a dedicated pet insurance claims line which you can call: 0330 102 5745. Lines are open Monday to Friday 8am-9pm and Saturday 9am-2pm. Before you call, check that the claim is covered by your policy and make sure you have the following details at hand:
