Choose from four levels of pet insurance
Brightside’s pet insurance options range from Level 1 to Four and includes generous cover and optional benefits for your pet. There is a useful guide to the types of benefits available below.
The claim limit for each insurance option is subject to excesses, which are the amounts you have to pay for each claim.
For cats, the excess for veterinary fees is:
- £85 of veterinary fees if your cat is under 8 years.
- £95 plus 15% of the remaining cost of treatment per condition per period of insurance.
For dogs, the excess for veterinary fees is:
- £100 of veterinary fees if your dog is under 8 years
- £110 of veterinary fees plus 15% of the remaining cost of treatment per condition per period of insurance.

Your benefits for pet insurance cover levels
If your pet causes damage to third party property Brightside will pay up to £500.
Advertising or Reward
If your pet is lost or stolen, Brightside will pay for local advertising and offer a reward. Cover is limited up to £1,500 per policy year.
Boarding Kennel Fees
If you need urgent treatment that requires more than 4 consecutive days in hospital, Brightside will cover the costs of emergency boarding or daily minding fees up to £1,500 per year.
Death Due to Accident Or Illness
If your pet dies due to an accident or illness, Brightside will pay out the cost of your pet up to £1,500. However, this is only applicable to pets who die due to illness, under the age of 5.
Healthcare Away From Home
If you and your pet are away from home and your pet needs urgent veterinary care, you may not know who to turn to. Brightside covers your pet up to the set amount of vet fees in addition to cover for loss of pet passport and repeat worming treatment up £250 per period of insurance, emergency expenses up to £1,000 per period of insurance and quarantine costs for £2,000 per period of insurance. Be aware, this will only cover a trip for a maximum of 60 days.
Brightside will provide financial cover, if your pet damages another persons property or causes them death or injury, up to £1 million per event.
