Choose from two levels of pet insurance

Pet Plan provides two pet insurance options, Time Limited and Lifetime, Both options include generous cover and renewable benefits. There is a useful guide to the types of benefits available.

The claim limit for each insurance option is subject to excesses, which are the amounts you have to pay for each claim. Each excess is applicable per condition per policy year.

Your benefits for pet insurance cover levels

Complementary Treatment

Pet Plan will cover complementary treatment, including acupuncture and hydrotherapy sessions, from £500 per condition for 12 months, to £1,000 – £2,000 per year.

Third Party Liability

If your dog causes injury or accident, Pet Plan will cover Third Party Liability claims, from £1 million on 12 month cover, to £2-3 million on Lifetime cover, per incident.

Death From Illness and Injury

If your pet dies as a result from illness or injury, Pet Plan will cover the original costs of your pet, from £1,000 per pet on 12 month cover, to £1,500- £2,000 on Lifetime cover.

Boarding Fees

If your pet needs to stay in kennels or cattery’s while you have an emergency hospital visit, Pet Plan will cover the cost up to £1,000 on 12 month cover, to £1,500 or £2,000 on Lifetime cover.

Loss By Theft/Straying & Advertising

If your pet strays or is stolen, Pet Plan will cover the original cost of your pet up to £1,000 on 12 month cover and £1,500- £2,000 on Lifetime. Advertising and reward costs are also covers to the same amount on each policy.

Holiday Cancellation

Pet Plan also provides cover for holiday cancellation, in the event your pet needs life saving surgery and you need to cancel your holiday. Cover ranges from £1,000 on the 12 month policy and £1,500 to £2,000 on the Lifetime policies.

What animals can I insure with Pet Plan?

Pet Plan provides pet insurance cover for a variety of animals, including dogs, cats, rabbits, horses and their riders. Pet Plan also offer insurance for exotic animals through their partner, Exotic Direct, including birds, reptiles and small mammals.

What types of policies does Pet Plan offer for dogs and cats?

Pet Plan currently offers two types of policy for cats and dogs, Covered For Life and 12 Month Cover. Both policies cover a variety of benefits, including loss by theft or straying, holiday cancellation and complementary treatment.

What types of policy does Pet Plan have for horses and riders?

Pet Plan offers a variety of flexible horse and rider insurance policies. Horse policies are available to horses aged 30 days to 20 years. If your horse is insured before its 20th birthday, Pet Plan will continue to offer illness cover until their 25th birthday. Horses aged 20 and over will need to take out the Veteran Plan, which covers the essentials for older horses.

Pet Plan also offers Rider Plan for those aged 5 to 75. This provides coverage for those who ride but don’t have the responsibility for a horse.

Does Pet Plan cover pre-existing conditions?

Pet Plan provides coverage pets suffering from chronic and hereditary conditions. However, medical conditions that first occurred or showed clinical signs before the effective date of the policy, will not be covered by Pet Plan’s policy.

How long does it take to make a claim?

Pet Plan offer no time limit for making a claim through them, but advise to complete the claim form with the relevant information to make the process as quick as possible. Pet Plan also promise never to increase your premium should you need to make a claim.
