There is an excess that is payable, per condition. For Lifetime policies this will be payable per condition, per year. This is fixed until an annual review and forms part of your quote and premium, based on your pet’s species, breed, age and location. Please note, once your pet has reached a certain age, it will change from a defined amount to a sum what will be the greater of the defined amount or percentage contribution

Your benefits for pet insurance cover levels
Waiver Of Premium
If you’re unable to work as a result of an accidental injury, illness or involuntary unemployment from a full time position, The Post Office will continue to pay your premiums up to six months.
Healthcare Away From Home
If you and your pet are travelling, the Post Office will provide up to 90 days cover when you are abroad. This only applies to countries included within the PETS Travel Scheme.
Boarding & Kennel Fees
The Post Office will cover the costs of Emergency Boarding fees if you are hospitalised more than 48 hours and cannot care for your pet.
Third Party Liability
If your pet causes injury to another person or property, the Post Office will provide Third Party Liability cover of £2 million pounds.
What animals can I insure with Post Office?
Post Office provides pet insurance for cats and dogs from eight weeks, as well as rabbits. However, cats can only be insured up to their 10th birthday and dogs up to their 5th birthday. For some breeds, this can extend to 8 years.
What types of policy do Post Office offer?
Post Office offers four policies. Essential is a time limited policy which covers vet fees up to £1,500. Standard is a per condition policy, with a vet fee limit of £2,000 and two Lifetime policies, Premium and Premium Plus, which cover vet fees from £3,000 – £7,000 per policy year.
Does Post Office cover pre-existing conditions?
Post Office does not provide cover for conditions, illnesses or injuries diagnosed before the policy start date or during the 14 day wait period. Any condition, illness or injury diagnosed after that period of time will be covered by the policy.
How long does it take to assess a claim?
While Post Office does not provide a time limit with assessing claims, their UK based team aim to handle pet insurance claims quickly and fairly.
