Making a Scratch & Patch pet insurance claim

To claim on your Scratch & Patch pet insurance policy, you'll need to have the following information to hand:
  • Your policy number
  • Your pet's previous veterinary practices
  • Your previous address (if applicable)
You should start the claims process within 60 days of the incident occurring. Scratch & Patch won't pay out for claims that are submitted after 12 months. Simple download a claims form online, fill it in and sign it. You will then need to pass the form onto your vet so that they can fill out their relevant section. When you send the form back to Scratch & Patch, make sure your vet attaches a copy of your pet's full medical history and any relevant invoices. Scratch & Patch will keep you updated on the progress of your claim.

Yes. If you already have pet insurance with a different provider and switch to Scratch and Patch, they won’t enforce the industry standard waiting period on your policy. This means that you’ll be able to submit a claim within the first 14 days of switching.

Yes, Scratch and Patch offer a specific plan for pets with pre-existing conditions. Their Champ Pre-Existing Conditions Cover may cover your pet’s pre-existing condition. However, it doesn’t cover every condition. Your policy documents will detail which declared conditions are covered and which are not. If you fail to declare a pre-existing condition, it will be excluded from cover.

Unfortunately, Scratch and Patch don’t currently give you the option of claiming online. You’ll need to fill out a form and send it to them.

This all depends on the complexity of the claim you're making. Scratch and Patch aim to deal with all claims as accurately as possible in a timely manner. Most of their claims are dealt with within 8 days.
